I think I am finally getting the hang of this city. It has only taken me a few weeks to finally feel comfortable on the subway and exploring the many treasure of this city alone. There is so much to do and see here it is almost overwhelming, but I feel like I am making my way through my list of things I want to accomplish while I am here. This week I have had a few favorites that I want to share with you.
Strand Bookstore | The cutest little bookstore and cafe attached to Club Monaco. Not only is it filled with the fresh smell of pastries and new books, but it has the most beautiful interior. It is a nice little shop to sneak into, read a few books and escape the city! Not to mention there are bunches of beautiful fresh flowers that welcome you at the door. This is where you can make your own fresh bouquet to take home for you or a loved one. Of course for a small fee.
Brooklyn + Uptown | This week I worked with Prop Stylist, Kendra Smoot on a shoot for a magazine. We were working in uptown and Brooklyn. Both very beautiful areas of the city. Much more quiet and quant than where we are living in the Upper West Side. On my way home from work one of the days, I got caught in the craziest rain storm I have ever seen. I mean gigantic elephant rain drops and torrential down pours. It was quite magical mess I must say.
City Bakery | Said to be one of the best places in the city for a chocolate chip cookie. I would have to agree it was pretty darn good, but I am still a sucker for that warm gooey cookie from Levains.
Chelsea Market + Highline Park | If your looking for a relaxing and easy going day, make your way to Chelsea Market and the Highline Park. It is so fun to walk through Chelsea Market and see all the local food shops that line the hallways. I decided to stop at the Milk Bar and grab myself some Butter Pecan ice cream. It was delectable! I was also in heaven when I discovered the two story Anthropologie. Me oh my was it beautiful in there! Afterwards I made my way over to Highline Park, which is a park that was created on an old railroad track. It overlooks the area and is so peaceful!
Flatiron District | You can't come to New York and not see the Flatiron building. Oh an while your at it stop by Shake Shack for some burgers and fries and then make your way over to Eataly for some gelato.
Tribeca | On Saturday I decided to go stop by the Jcrew Liquor Store (Jcrew Mens Shop) in Tribeca and scout out the Limited Edition New Balance shoes only released in two stores in the US. On my way I passed this incredible Balloon store with every inflatable floaty you can imagine. I couldn't help, but giggle to myself. Not to mention what a dream Tribeca is. So far one of my favorite areas to walk around in!
Union Square Farmers Market | Every Saturday Union Square has a farmers market with locally grown produce, meats, pastries, fresh florals and much much more. It was so fun to walk around and taste test cheese, honey, lemonades and smell the flowers. Also if you look closely at the picture on the left you will see bubbles. There were hundreds of people in the square blowing bubbles.
Well thats about it for this week. I fell upon many surprises and am excited to see what next week brings. Until next time!
xoxo,
Morgan
